that seems to be a decades long problem with Superman. when they do a semi reboot like Returns.. fans hate it (*by semi-reboot, i mean straight up lifted dialogue from the first two Reeve films), when a film like Man of Steel comes along, fans get confused by it because it's an origin film but not a beat for beat origin like the first Reeve film.
Superman is a difficult character to get right and an easy character to get wrong.. if a director chooses to ignore the humanity in Superman.. he (or she) is getting it wrong. if however there is a balance between the human side (Clark) & the powers (tights & flight).. that makes for a more interesting Superman.
(sorry to hijack)
as for Henry, he needs to figure out what he wants for his career, what makes him happy. (p.s. PLAY A VILLAIN ONCE IN A BLUE MOON, IT WOULDN'T KILL YA!!! )
IMDB taught me: cynicism is praised. optimism must be stamped out wherever it can be found.
