I just finished Johnny Cash: The Life. The book mentioned how the Cash girls would visit Johnny and June when they were young teens and were jealous of how Carlene and Rosie, June’s girls, had more freedom, no chores and expensive clothes. Vivian Cash was much more strict of a mother than June according to Roseanne Cash. Other than that there wasn’t a whole lot about their relationship. I got the impression that it was good on all sides. I suppose a book on June’s life rather than Johnny would give more details.

I thought this book was very good. It kept me reading and I finished it quickly. It seemed to be willing to present all the players honestly, warts and all without being salacious.
