George Carlin said for us to "question everything"

Sooo, that's what I'm doing. I call BS on this corona virus. For a little perspective remember the 2009 Swine Flu(H1N1) outbreak: The Who said that a range of 150K-500K died but later admitted that it was no deadlier than the seasonal flu.
Thanks George, you were a pretty smart dood.

I wonder how he'd react to the current political climate. Would he continue the leftwing support or get angry at the current treatment of comedians at college campuses? It's hard to say.

reply

I'm sure he'd continue his leftwing support no matter what, he was very anti-government, anti-white male, anti-big corporations. I can picture him in an interview saying that comedians that get booed, jeered at college campuses to simply stay away, and leave it at that.

reply

You're probably right. I often wonder how guys like Carlin or Hicks would react to the gender pronoun insanity.

reply

makes you think they're the smart ones for checking out early.

reply

Carlin would still be left wing, but I don’t think he would be some blind libtard SJW shill. Carlin was very critical of Bill Clinton, notably in his famous “Bill Clinton is full of shit” routine, so I think he’d be equally critical towards Biden or Hillary, perhaps even Sanders.

reply

Yeah but he'd go after Trump FULL FORCE!

reply

He sure would have. Trump would have taken both barrels from Carlin.

reply

Not to mention he abhorred PC and "soft" language. And he also hated environmentalists.

reply

That was a big part of what made him great: the guy had principles that he thought through and stuck to. He wouldn't have been suckered in by the crazies who dragged down Al Franken. He'd have told those crazies where to go.

reply

Very true, plus Carlin would not have been stupid enough to run for office like Franken did.

reply

Yeah, he was pretty clear on his cynical apathy towards political machinery.

reply

Just out of curiosity, what is BS about this virus? From what I remember about H1N1 it was about how it spread not the severity of the illness.

That's similar to this Covid-19. It's a novel virus, so because none of us has any natural immunity it will continue to spread and overwhelm medical systems. Although we've had coronaviruses before, ie SARS, it's a little more serious when you consider that in 2003 only 8,098 people world wide caught it. This very well may end up being the same severity as the flu, but our hospitals can't handle the number of people getting it at once.

reply

The BS is they didn't shut down the U.S. economy back then, now the big media corporations have us scared about something that's not really all that dangerous but 99.9% of people believe it is. If the big media didn't cause so much panic hospitals wouldn't get so full of patients who think they have this virus, they may simply have the seasonal flu or something similar. The 2009 pandemic didn't cause 20+ million jobs to be lost, which you and I know will cause a lot more deaths than any flu like virus.
If I'm the one full of BS please let me know.

reply

I'm not talking about ERs being over run, I'm talking about ICUs.

I wasn't saying that you are wrong, it's just I'm not American, and I don't watch American news if I can help it. Economies are shut down all over the world. If this is part of a New World Order scheme, there's not a damn thing I can do about it, so I don't know what to say.

reply

Yes, you're right economies are being shut down across the globe. My best guess it's the Big Media corporations(among others they all are evil) who've been hurt over the last 20 years..well, they're coming back with a vengeance making billions and billions of dollars by fear mongering with this virus.
But yes, YOU can do something about it. You can fight back by doing your own research, your own thinking and come to your own conclusions. If you see something that's as wrong as this then continue to fight back, post what you come up with on any site/blog/youtube/twitter/facebook you feel like. Don't let these corporations destroy lives, which they are certainly doing.

reply

I'm immuocompromised. I'm taking this virus seriously because I've seen how many cases popped up in my province in like a week. I was self isolating before they told us to. I did my research and talked to my doctors, one of whom was very skeptical of the spread of this, and he's the one that cancelled my round of chemo. I do avoid most news sources as they are privately owned. I try to stick with science and caution.

reply

good luck and stay healthy!

reply

OP is full of shite

reply

I can picture Carlin mocking the daylights out of people who didn't take it seriously, too.

reply

why would he do that? it just doesn't seem like something he'd do. He'd go completely apeshit against the powers the be scaring the shit out of people with a virus that in reality isn't all that harmful at all.

reply

He would hate governments cracking down on people, but my guess is that part of his lament would be that when everybody in the scientific and medical community warns people to stay home, they don't listen, and that opened the door for the government to come in and lock everybody up: don't give them an excuse.

He also would probably have some choice words for Trump's denial of the situation winding up exponentially endangering the population of the USA.

reply

Carlin would be in hiding from corona if he were still alive. Given his heart history.

reply

If Carlin bought into this BS I'd be very disappointed. Heck, I see some folks I looked up to on YouTube, they're making videos and wearing those stupid masks. Ridiculous.

reply

Bill Burr rants on this today! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_cxrY30bTU

reply

That's a funny take on things. Bill Burr is hilarious.

reply

Here's Carlin talking about this very topic! 3M views.

George Carlin - Germs, Immune System https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X29lF43mUlo

reply

yes this is timely and it's fantastic. Also we must realize that with people staying at home so much now they will lose their immunity to so many diseases, allergies, pathogens.. a lot more people will get sick and possibly die from the media brainwashing EVERYBODY!

reply

If you think that him talking about over-cooked hamburgers or mocking people who panic over regular germs is him saying that caution in a pandemic is stupid, I'm sorry, we just have to disagree with what Carlin's saying here.

He's talking about absurd paranoia, not following suggestions from the CDC and WHO.

Did you miss the line, "What happens when a real supervirus comes along?" That's him saying not to sweat the small stuff, don't sterlize society, so that when a pandemic shows up - say! like the one right now - it won't be as big of a problem.

Not listening to Carlin makes the present situation worse, but I think Carlin would still be on-board with stopping people from dying by not spreading around a virus we don't know how to fight yet.

And if you think that listening to experts is the same thing as being a member of the sheeple flock, man, I don't know what to say.

reply

The "experts" have been getting it wrong all along. Remember a month or two ago they predicted 250,000 deaths now they've backtracked to 60,000.
Also, this virus is no deadlier than the last pandemic. They didn't shut down the world economies back in 2009, it wasn't worse than the seasonal flu but now 11 years later they put 25 million people out of work(in the U.S. ALONE) which will cause more deaths than the weak ass virus anyway. Really what they've accomplished is way more deaths than if they'd done nothing at all. Sheeple.

reply

First: changing stats doesn't make me trust them less. It's their best guess and the number changes as they get more information.

H1N1, in the USA, killed 12,469 people
COVID-19, in the USA, has killed (to date) 20,499 and that number hasn't peaked yet.

reply

Lots of reports that hospitals are swapping pneumonia deaths for corona deaths. Also, my friend said his niece is a nurse and she says they report many deaths as corona related, even a suicide! Also Also, think about it, can you CONFIRM a death is caused by corona this quickly? One final nail they can't even figure out correct seasonal flu deaths, they admit the stats are just guesses. .

reply

So how do you know the last pandemic wasn't as bad? If the numbers aren't accurate, then those ones aren't either.

I'm sorry, but we're now in conspiracy theorist territory where evidence is dismissed as incorrect based on gossip and we can't continue anything close to a reasonable conversation if that's the case.

I don't want to be one of those people who gets into pointless arguments over message boards, so let's just say that we both deeply appreciate Carlin's work and miss his voice terribly, and leave it at that.

reply

Hey Ace_Spade, first I want to say thanks for putting some thought into this, you're doing a lot more than probably 99.9% of the population.
As to how I know the last pandemic wasn't as bad? Well, The Who admitted the whole 2009 pandemic wasn't as deadly as the seasonal flu. If we put that into perspective we can kinda of get an idea what's going on in 2020.

reply

In the '60s the mantra of the left was "always question authority".

Now it's "never question authority".

Skepticism is healthy. It's always good to think for yourself.

reply

If he was still alive you'd call him a Leftwing fossil.

You also should go back to school and learn some more math and perspective on how a pandemic can have extreme negative effects on society. You think CV19 is Bullshit because you can, but if everyone ignored it and went back to business as usual in spite of the infection rate and death toll back in February we'd probably have over 25 million infected with several million dead by this month (May).

I notice your posts here are over 2 months old so I don't know if you subscribe to the belief that it's a hoax but if there millions more of you propagating this belief then my estimation stands.
