Should have received an Oscar nomination for The Big Short

He was amazing in that. His performance stood out to me more than Christian Bale's did.

Nah. He chewed his scenes. He was trying too hard for an Oscar nom.

If you see him as chewing his scenes, that's how you perceive it and fine, however I seriously doubt your Oscar jab.

He wasn't nominated, so I'm more likely to be right than you.

His performance was oscar bait and you fell for it.

My comment is based on the man himself. Carell is probably one of the most respected people in Hollywood and not because he's an A-lister, but because he's a gentleman towards everyone and humble especially about his own talents. He's consistently been this way since he made big with T40YOV and The Office. However, you're going to believe what you want about him, but he doesn't try to win awards...that's just who he is as a man. I'm not sure what you have against him, but that he acted in this movie just to get an Oscar is false.

I came here to say this. If Christian Bale got nominated then Steve Carell definitely should have. He showed way more emotion and had a much more contagious performance.

Bale was fantastic, as we all expected. Carell blew it out of the park though.

He was pushed for the lead role category for both Foxcatcher & The Big Short. He nearly missed his first Oscar nomination in the previous year as his role was arguably supporting in Foxcatcher, though it was substantial enough to be considered secondary lead. With a much smaller role in The Big Short, he was lucky to be even nominated for Golden Globe & Critics Choice.

I agree, Steve was great in The Big Short, I would give him nomination instead of Matt Damon. But Bale was also amazing, that nomination is well deserved.
