Matt; StandUp2Cancer telecast 9/9/16

Very briefly, I presume, with that many celebrities involved and a 1 hour running time.

A comedic sketch with Kirsten Wiig would have been fun.

Maybe something about cancer has affected a loved one, his mother in law? Or presenting a short film about another cancer sufferer/survivor/treatment centre? Would be very moving, certainly more so than just repeating phone numbers etc & asking for donations.

Matt mentions the events on twitter;

Katy is presumably Simon's late sister Katy Cardell, mother of the 4 sporty Texan nephews'. Though Matt may not have known her personally she died in 2004, the lose is obviously still felt.

It would be awesome seeing him do a comedic sketch and Kristen W is a perfect choice, would be a nice counterpoint to many of the moving testimonials that will be on display. Don't know what his grandfather died of, but I'm sure cancer has touched someone in his life.

Thanks Andrew.

Am I understanding correctly. .. this will be broadcast tonight live on a multitude of channels in the US at 11pm eastern?

So I seen pics only but did Matt just appear (looking lovely it's true)in the charity t-shirt & taking some calls?

Don't know what the normal standard with US telethons is but I expect a bit more effort on the part of producers. George Clooney did a period scene with the Downton Abbey cast for a British charity a few years ago or some mash up of TV shows or a 1 scene revival of some old show, that's what I sort of expect.

Not to detract from the worthy cause but nil point (Eurovision score) for effort from what I've seen.

I've never seen the broadcast on this particular telethon but yes, there's usually entertainment and information about the cause for telethon in general. I think I read somewhere about musical acts that would be performing last night... I guess Matt was just involved behind the scenes?

Think so, you in the US? Also available online but maybe only US & Canada?

Everyone who volunteered to man the phones should have had a 30 second period of time to get their say of a loved one lost to cancer. They might have generated more revenue as viewers could relate to Hollywood having the same cancer scares as everyone else.
My browser went out for the last 8 minutes so did not hear Celine sing. There were pix of Jen Anniston and Joe Maganniello but I did not see them on stage or answering phones.
Would have been neat to have Matt take your donation!
