That's awesome news! Sundance is a big deal. Looks like the movie will be well received by the critics. Hope so!

Fingers crossed. I thought it would have been picked up months ago, though I'd guess the material is more suited to those who shop Sundance than Cannes.

Thanks for the I go carmel

Is there any way to see these films and specifically I mean 'walking out' if you don't attend Sundance?

reply

I think most if not all of the films at Sundance are there hoping to be sold or bought by distributors. A lot of what happens next depends on how well the film is received or not. Some will go directly to theaters others into limited release and some directly to DVD. If you are one of the winners of the festival it ups your chances of mainstream distribution for sure. It also helps to have good PR and experienced movie makers such as the Smith brothers. Hopefully, Walking Out will land up in wide release in theaters. So glad to see it opening at Sundance.

I so hope this does really well, would be great to see Matt with a nomination or two next year for this or TLT.

Indeed it's been FAR too long since "The Normal Heart" award buzz, it really should have lead to better roles for Matt sooner. I know films/TV take years to develop but from awards season 2015 to award season 2018 is 3 years!
