Anyone on here know anything about ANYTHING yet?

Anyone on here know anything about ANYTHING yet before the boards close? I'd certainly like to know more, now, from my favorite place to get info, than wait for the spoon-fed media....

2017, a year of extended mourning so far, as if 2016 got a contractual extension on its existential pain-generating properties...

reply

Sorry. I haven't heard "anything" either.
This board will surely be missed for its information and camaraderie of all things Matt!

Your last sentence reminded me of a tweet I read yesterday that I thought was hilarious. I apologize in advance if its content offends anyone. It read:

"We thought 2016 was bad but it was merely lubing our a**holes for 2017."

Also love your take on the "...contractual extension..." I have never been so frequently horrified in my life. And I have a niece (more like a daughter) who served as a medic in Iraq during the war. I was fraught with worry, but seriously, nothing like this New World.

reply

Agree with both of you. Horrified, perplexed and saddened anew every single day.

Hi iluvnyc,

Hopefully we'll hear something soon.

That is funny if it weren't so true & sad!

I love your way with words.

Please check out my thread about an alternative movie site where we can all continue our conversations. Hope you will join us there. I love your insights!

"If you want a happy ending, it depends on where you stop the story"

I know, it has become a daily thing in a way I don't want to see normalized. Three weeks into this nightmare and I don't see this level of "out of order" "can't end well" as remotely sustainable. It's not world I can live in and there's no longer anywhere else "safe" to run to when things get even weirder, which I suspect they will, sadly just get worse.

It's like the planet acquires cyclical amnesia, and learned lessons are lost. Too many people cluelessly stumbling over the same mistakes for the rest of us, who remember or simply can see clearly, to overcome their stupidity.

Unfortunately, I couldn't agree more. Not at all offended. Among my circle of friends, I've already used much less fine words than I did in my previous post. Those words literally flowed out my brain through my fingertips as I typed. I had no idea why I felt it that way at that moments.

I share your pain, I come from a military family and currently have several members serving all over the world. They're not happy and they are concerned.

reply

Hi iluvnyc I've just seen you have joined on the other place. Will be nice if we all get chatting again.

Thoughts to your family members who are serving can't be easy with which the world is turning at the moment.

reply

Well after everyone lauding me with so many niceties, I think I'll simply have to!

And just in case I can't find your 'other thread' in time, please repost the link here.
I never really got that close to anyone on this list that I would maintain contact off board, a shame, I figured this would last forever (why the hell would I believe that about anything in this world anymore IDK!) and I'm really going to miss some very insightful people, frankly from all over the world! 😔

OK I joined the other place, see you 'all' there.

People have been telling my that my entire life... back in the snail mail days (80s/early 90s) I had a friend with whom I corresponded often, sometimes just short observations I'd scribble during a lunch break. He wrote me stating what you just did and added "you give good mail" I got a huge laugh out of that, no one had quite used that combo of words LOL

I know, I get caught in the absurdity of life and my comments come out as dark satire. People sometimes apologize to me about laughing when I've said something that's not really 'funny' but as you stated, I have a way with words. My father always called it my dark sense of humor. I think life's too short to not take it on the chin with chuckle, too.
