"Jonathan" another MB film in post-production

Listed on imbd in the last day or so

The cast is the wonderful Patricia Clarkson plus starlets Ansel Elgort (title role)& Suki Waterhouse but an unknown filmmaker.

Maybe filmed in the later part of 2016?

While it's laudable for Matt to lend his name to emerging talent amongst filmmaker's'....

Yep I hear ya. Commendable and just like Matt to help others, if that's what's happening here, but another probable bit part. I'm fine with bit parts, just wish he'd get the leads his talent deserves.

I wish someone the caliber of, say... Ridley Scott, would take notice. He appears to like elevating lesser known talent and working with them multiple times.

Patricia Clarkson - fantastic.

It's just seems to be NO upward trajectory with Matt's film roles, bit parts are not leading to second leads or important cameos "and/with Matt Bomer" on the credits...

The "teen" stars here almost point - with Walking Out - towards Matt starting to play supporting father roles to inexperienced younger stars, reviews noting Matt's few scenes and his superior acting ability to younger leads...

I hear ya. If one looks back his role in In Time as Henry Hamilton was perhaps his best cameo to date. Since then his roles have gotten smaller & less significant. Matt gives his 1000 percent and elevates any role but yeah I wish he was given more significant parts. There is only so much one can do with tiny bit parts to make it memorable. Other than Matt's die hard fans, most likely most people don't even register him in a blink n miss role.

I'm sure there's a reason he's doing this project. He always has an angle. So this isn't about Matt's choices per se but about Hollywood sleeping on his talent. Makes me frustrated as a fan of his talent.

Looks like his role was a last minute addition too as the movie has been in the making for a while now.

He's one actor whose popularity does not match the bit roles he gets in movies. What gives?

Well, there's always that one percent chance that his role is very significant, memorable, more like a second lead or something. For now, I'll hold on to that hope.

Oh, I've just made a post on the other board and come here to find out any info as it's popped up from nowhere. There doesn't seem to be that much about it but I'm with you all with the frustration that's for sure!

i guess it was naïve of me to think that by now, with as connected as simon and matt both are, he would have been given a chance at some leads. I'm not referring to a job being handed to him just due to simon's power in HW, but many times those connections are what give actors a chance to show what they really do have. almost everyone I've ever heard has met him has truly liked matt as a person, so I would think there would have been at least a conversation between he and george clooney or brad pitt during the reading of 8 that could have led to something, considering their pull. we know how impressed julia roberts was with him in TNH, though I'm sad to say she probably has less pull than men. (from what I've seen of crowe and gosling, i wouldn't have faith of either of them putting in a good word for him.)

I'm sure, like me, the rest of you are frustrated *for* matt, not with him.

Matt's friend, Neal Dodson is one of the executive producers. He may just be helping out a friend.

Oh Lord no!  Never could we be frustrated with him. Matt works his socks off in any role he's given & we adore him for it.

I said at the other place Matt anywhere is great.

Annoyed at Hollywood & their system, also tbf, I imagine it's difficult for many actors/actresses.

As has been said although he has great friendships maybe he keeps that 'inner-circle' Hollywood thing separate?

We have TLT to look forward to he's going to be fantastic & can't wait for the story to begin.

Indeed, the "connections" Matt appears to make through work seem to lead nowhere. Other than his connection with Mark Ruffalo leading to "Anything", a low budget film by a little known playwright/director which is no doubt an interest challenge for Matt as an actor but unlikely more than that.
Interesting to contrast Matt's static career with overnight successes like Chris Pratt and other hot new stars like Alicia Vikander who make 6 big films in 12-18 months.
