Yeah, you know there is such a thing as chocolate, which a vegetarian does eat? Maybe you are mixing that up with vegan... and even they can eat some sweets.

Mayim is vegan. However, it's not impossible for vegans to become fat (not that Mayim is), because some sugary and fatty foods are vegan, e.g. chips (fries). It just happens that most vegans don't eat as much junk food and aren't as overweight as the average Westerner because the great majority first do a lot of nutritional research in order to prevent deficiencies, and because the people who then decide to go ahead with it and stick to it for a significant period of time, are usually the kind of people who find it easier than most to be disciplined with food.
