The most underrated actors of our generation. I've seen him in so many movies, non blockbuster movies and he is one of the best actors out there. I don't know if he avoids the big hollywood movies or he's done a movie that's killed his reputation.
But he deserves recognition.
Maybe he should transition to tv, he'd be winning all the awards hands down.
And yes I've seen all his cheesy movies, he's still a good actor.
rather than under rated. If you read the posts on this board alone you'll see how appreciated he is as an actor by fans and that's before you consider industry people who have written roles for him. The truth is that gorgeous though he is, he was never bland enough to be heart throb material, and he has said himself that he doesn't receive lots of offers and some of his film choices have been motivated by money.
When I saw Blood at the London Film Festival last year the director, Nick Murphy, welcomed Paul on to the stage by saying that he was an incredibly talented actor who had been too long away from 'our shores' (i.e. the UK). I suspect that if he did more British films he would have a better career. Problem is that he lives in the USA and works around his wife, as she does him; their priority being their family.

He turned down the Kings Speech to spend more time with his family. Some people think that was dumb on his part but in the end he has a happy family and that is what matters to him. I think if he did the Kings Speech he definitely gets an Oscar nomination but doesn't win because Colin Firth was "due." Also, the fact that he lost out the role of Javert to Russell Crowe is laughable. They clearly went with marketing and not talent and it showed in the movie. I am kind of glad he didn't get that role because the movie was not good at all. Bettany will always be a character actor and those are the best kinds of actors. They can do anything while a movie star is limited. All you see is the celebrity and not the character they are supposed to be portraying.

shareI have changed my opinion of him since i last posted. While i think he is a talented actor, he has become more pretentious and isn't even grateful for the job he has been given. He is everything you have mentioned but don't forget extremely pretentious. This guy goes around in scarfs and oversized glasses because he thinks of himself as such an "artist." He looks like a freak and just like his new best friend Johnny Depp.
