There's something incredibly dishonest about SBC

Much of his gimmick is exposing how stupid, bigoted, etc. people are.

Thing is, a lot of the time, people just say things to go along with him out of politeness and not wanting to start a confrontation, so they often don't mean what they are saying. Then SBC posts these bits as if to say: look at what foolish, benighted things these people say.

When he made the borat and Bruno movies, many people he interviewed acted horribly without him taking part, like the homophobic cowboy, the guy who wanted to sell "Borat" a gun, Paula Abdul sitting on a mexican as she talks about being humanitarian...

Ian Kershaw said that the road to Auschwitz was paved with indifference. The "victims" may not have actively tried to hurt anyone, but they fall under the category of accountability. They went along with him saying atrocious things because they didnt care enough to say something. They allowed it to be said rather than pausing for a moment and considering what is being said. So much tragedy is allowed because people just go along with life assuming someone else will deal with the problem.

Of course he took part. He set the whole scene up. This is actually a perfect example.

His message is: "Look, world, at what a *beep* Paula Abdul is. She pretends to be a humanitarian, and she sits on people!"

This is a perfect example of what I think is totally dishonest about it. She clearly is very uncomfortable about the whole thing. You can see that in her expression every single moment of the scene.

People like to be polite. They don't like to cause scenes. She obviously felt socially uncomfortable to tell Bruno that she found his setup immoral. People don't like to get into moral debates with total strangers.

Yes, it's not nice to sit on people. I get it. But, as I said, she didn't do it out of callousness. She was caught off-guard in a socially awkward situation and didn't want to raise a stink over it.

She probably figured: okay, these people are getting paid to do this. This guy's some kind of eccentric nut. Okay, it's not so nice, but I'll play along and get the hell out of here.

So SBC sets up a situation so that he can embarrass her in front of the world, for being a cruel hypocrite, when the truth is that she just didn't know how to handle a socially bizarre situation.

I think SBC's is a major *beep* for these kind of scenes.

I think he's funny as hell, and I've watched hundreds of hours of his stuff and laughed many times, but there's a really ugly side to him, that I think is seriously evil.

You're wrong. Stand up to evil, yes, by all means. But just because you don't reply to every nutcase you meet doesn't mean you're paving the road to genocide.

Come on. She should have absolutely protested doing that in the first place. She obviously signed off on the footage after it was over as well. He is showing you exactly who she is. That's why it's entertaining.

He told a story on Conan about a porn director absolutely demanding he film a sex scene at a swingers party in a Borat, that seems like a total lie. He also tried to say that guy Bruno interviewed was a terrorist, and he wasn't. He edits things falsely, too. Like people booing at Borat singing the national anthem at a rodeo. The booing was added later, no one cared what he was singing about.
