Wow... that's really interesting. So, a few maybe dumb questions: Does it take as long for a native speaker to say those names as it looks like it would - just seems like it's about 50 syllables. And in casual conversation, which of the names do you use when referring to someone? Like, what is the "first name" equivalent? And let's say the "first names" for these two people you mentioned were 'Ibiagbanidokibubo,' and 'Enoghayinyagbon,' are there common shortened versions for those names?

I love the idea that something like 'Enoghayinyagbon' could be as common somewhere as "Jennifer" is here.

Thanks for the enlightenment!

Usually people adopt a shortened version. Ujuomonigho (which is fairly common in the midwest of Nigeria) becomes Uju or sometimes Omo and Enoghayinyagbon -which is not at all common because that's a direct translation of a proverb that has meaning for her family - shortened her name to Noghayin. Ibiagbanidokibubo shortened hers to Agbani. But when filling out forms or when your parents are mad at you, your full name with all its syllables will be used. ;-)
