I'm surprised that someone can have such a high-level career background in law and yet play a psychotic criminal so convincingly.

That's not how it works. That's not how any of this works.

To me it's the opposite. I would that someone in the industry would have used all his efforts, dedication, hard work and energy making it big. Lost of celebs do have other trades too. I know that obviously. However. His talent has been recognized quickly. That's just great. Many hard working actors never gets that far. Perhaps this is the reason behind the OP'S remarks.
