Malin as Silk Spectre II
As for Malin's films I only saw Watchmen (about 5 times) and I noticed a lof of criticism against her acting in reviews.I did find the casting choice questionable (why pick a sort of naieve looking blonde for this brunette character, it's so obvious because of her eyes and skin she's blonde). But I didn't get the idea that Malin ruined what was given to her.
She comes across as more mature in the comic but that's not Malin's fault, it's the script. Also, the make up department overdoes it in some scenes. And director Snyder, being a former filmmaker for advertisement has those shots that look too much like a pose. And by this time is known for directing women that are risky casting choices (skinny Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman).
I am however fine with Akerman's performance, absolutely love the Watchmen film (I only get put off by some gory scenes) and like all the performances, given the material (this is not Glengarry Glenn Ross). The idea was to use relatively unknown actors, I only knew Wilson and Haley. So, I got curious why her acting got so much hate???
I can clearly see woodenness in Kristen Stewart's acting but not in Malin's. Whatever emotion was required in any given scene she seemed do deliver it just fine. And she's got great eyes that can show a sense of wonder, like when she is playing around with Archie or hanging out with Nite Owl. Or she shows attraction, anger, fear...I don't see blankness. She just doesn't have a ton of dialogue. Technically, Jacky Earle Haley, whose performance was praised the most, shows the least amount of emotion simply because his face is covered most of the time. So I don't get how these opinions get formed and it just sometimes seems everybody mass copies opinions on the internet without giving it much thought...or decide they don't like an actress because of some irrational reason and then rationalise that in hindsight.
She just looked too cute and sweet for the part I guess? But what scene clearly shows lousy acting (don't be lazy and say all of them...that would just prove lack of arguments)?
