would have been better as Harry Potter

This kid would have been better as Harry Potter instead of that Radcliffe guy. He has a softer look to him, and all the illustrations of Harry Potter in the book resemble him more.

But he's not english. Doesn't have an english accent so it wouldn't go right. But I agree, he would have been good.

reply

He could have faked one. Loads of people can speak with an English accent and I've heard it's not that hard to learn.
And yes, he would have been so much better than Danial Radcliffe. When I saw him in A Series of Unfortunate events, I immediately thought "harry potter!"

I beg to differ. Fake British accents make my ears bleed. There are only a couple people that can fake one and get away with, none of them are children, no offense to Liam Aiken, as he does have some skillz when it comes to acting (In my humble opinion anyway).

I wouldn't change anything about the HP films; I never expected them to be as good as the books. What was done, was done and looking back on it is pointless in my opinion. Also, I think Daniel did a fairly good job with the role. No one can be perfect, but he does have talent, so....I don't really begrudge him playing the icon.

Please, judging by the awful attempts of some of Hollywood's so-called 'finest' at doing English accents, clearly it's not as easy as you seem to think. I'm glad they DID go with an English actor and not an American. Harry Potter is an English character and it's right that all the casting was British. Radcliffe may not be the best actor in the world (none of the three main children are) but he's made the role his own now and I wouldn't want anyone else playing Harry, much less an American. I'm not xenophobic - I've seen some very passable American actors playing Brits - I just think HP is such an English story it would be wrong any other way.

reply

I disagree, I think casting the best actor or actress is more sensible than casting the most acurate actor, come on... They cast non-Americans for American roles when the non-American is worth it. Don't be such a dense nationalist. I really think Aiken would have been better in the Potter role, but honestly, I think lots of people would have been better (american and english) than RadStiff (ha, just thought of that and it fits perfectly).

Is it wrong to assure a young girl that she's ugly? I mean what's wrong with not being pretty?

reply

He actually got the role but was revoked when they found out he wasn't british

reply

As much as Daniel's acting irritates me, I'd rather have him then some american anyday.

How disgustingly unfair would it have been if they had given the role of Harry to an american?

When such a great character like that is written by a british author, it's only fair that the actor be british.

God, you american's don't need to be in EVERYTHING, you know...

Don't make such a ridiculous assumption. You may think it's easy, but if you put on a fake british accent and a Briton heard you speak, they'd know in a heart beat you were faking.

Liam did not lose out. He was originally cast to play Harry Potter, but JKR vetoed the choice because she hates Americans. Except she does not mind collecting money from them.

Oh for god's sake, grow up! What a disgusting thing to say. She wants her cast to be british and you lash out, shove words down her throat, and claim she hates americans because of it. NOT EVERYTHING NEEDS TO HAVE AMERICANS INCLUDED IN IT. GET OVER YOURSELF!!! It's people like you that portray americans in an arrogant, negative light.
If you wrote a story that was being made into a movie, you'd want an all american cast too.

If I created a story set in my country that was going to be made into a film, I'd want want people from my own country. Because it's only fair. Also, NO ONE can replicate a New Zealand accent.

If you don't want her having your 'precious american money,' they don't buy the books or watch the movies.
