NBC orders Comedy Pilot 'Bad Judge' Kate Walsh to Star and Exe Produce

The Private Practice alum will star in and executive produce Bad Judge, a comedy that NBC has just picked up to pilot.

The single-camera comedy hails from Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's Gary Sanchez Productions and centers on a hard-living, sexually unapologetic woman (Walsh) who plays with the law and whose life on the edge is constantly in balance, as she also happens to be a judge in the San Bernardino Criminal Court system.

Chad Kultgen (The Incredible Burt Wonderstone) will pen the script and executive produce alongside Walsh, McKay and Ferrell. Anne Heche and Jill Messick will also exec produce the Universal Television entry. Heche brought the idea to Gary Sanchez.

Since ABC's Grey's Anatomy spinoff Private Practice ended its sixth season in January, Walsh has remained busy with roles in FX's Fargo, DirecTV's Full Circle and she has four indie films due in 2014: Any Day, Staten Island Summer, Dermaphoria and Hello I Must Be Going. Walsh is repped by CAA and Morris Yorn.
