...but has she ever PLAYED a lesbian?

I know it's a dumb question but I'm not familiar with the brilliantly multi-talented Tomlin's filmography beyond the handful of films I've seen her in (Big Business, Flirting with Disaster, 9-5, I

I think there was innuendo of that propensity in the film " Tea with Mussolini"
somebody back me up?...jimmy lee do you agree?

Aww, mere innuendo? Well I guess it's better than nothin'. Actually I found a funny Carol Burnett clip in which Tomlin plays a women's prison ward, and there was all kinds of innuendo going on there.

I just think it would be absolutely lovely to see her romance a woman the way she's done (so believably) all these years with the lucky fellas... Don't get me wrong - I believe her to be one of THE most brilliant and versatile entertainers in history, male or female, and I have utmost respect for her! But she also possesses this very delicate, feminine nature that's absolutely enthralling, and intriguing.

Gosh I would love to meet her. Although I imagine I'd be an incoherent wreck in her presence!

She played a lesbian in "Tea with Mussolini. The clothes, the cigars, the dancing with girls, it's all pretty obvious and splendidly wonderful, may I add!! :)

My dar also beeped in "Nine to Five", when she talks about her sons "mother", i.e. her ex-partner, but I could be mistaken in that.

Yes, you are mistaken. She was straight in Nine To Five, that was her son.

I had another look at the film today and you are right. Lily plays a (presumably ;-)) straight mother of four.

Were you devastated to discover that?
