Why does he lie about his height?

He's not a small man, in fact he's above average for a US male. So why does he feel the need to exaggerate his height? He generally claims 6' and has even claimed 6'1! The reality is he's 5'11... on a good day.

This isn't a hate post - I do like him! I enjoy his music and think he's a fairly good actor, particularly in Alpha Dog and the Social Network. I just don't get why someone who's a decent enough height feels the need to claim a few extra inches when it's clear to everyone he's not that height.

Agreed. JT's conquered the music world, is a successful actor worth over $70 million, he's dated Britney Spears, Cameron Diaz, Scarlett Johansson and is now married to Jessica Biel. Yet he STILL feels the need to lie about his height! He's got everything any man could ever want. But he's not a tall guy and so he feels inadequate. It just shows how small man syndrome can get anyone.

I'm 5'10 so about his height and yeah, sometimes I wish I was a bit taller, but I just think "hey at least I'm not 5'5" or whatever. I also don't have any of the perks JT gets to experience to cheer me up! I just deal with it.

IMDb have him listed as 6'1 which is a complete joke.

I just noticed he was listed at 6'1, which is complete and utter nonsense. He's 5'10, 5'11 at most.

6'1 is what he claims. He's probably closer to 5'11 but who knows.

I was an extra at the MTV Movie awards where he and Seann William Scott hosted. I stood and talked with him and Pink's bassist for a few minutes. JT was about the same height as I, and I'm about 6'0.
