did her career tank?

years ago she was all over the place, winning oscars and costarring in movies with A-listers like eastwood, pacino and robin williams. After amelia it seems like she has dropped to the D list. she now has tv movies for recent credits. i'm not sure but was Amelia a flop? if it was maybe that killed it for her as a lead actress in a big budget movies

Hilary Swank is a beautiful and incredibly talented actress.I have been her fan since 2005. She has two Oscars and deserves both of them but her movie's choice is terrible.I never understand why winning TWO Oscars for Best Actress don't really help her career at all. P.S I Love You is the only box office hit of her after winning the second Oscar. She SHOULD do more Oscar worthy movie and win a third Oscar (The Homesman seems to be a Oscar worthy movie).Hilary also should star in BLOCKBUSTER films to increase her popularity. She has twon Oscars and she can do ANYTHING she wants in Hollywood. Why didn't the director choose Hilary Swank for the leading role in Gravity despite her two Oscars but Sandra Bullock or even Angelina Jolie who only has one Oscar for supporting role? I would LOVE to see a huge comeback of Hilary Swank.By the way,Amelia flopped but it didn't kill her career.Even if her movies flop hard with TWO OSCARS her status in Hollywood must be respected by almost everyone.

Seems that way.

You're only as good as your last flick it seems in this day and age.

Well based on her work in The Homesman she's got a decent chance at the awards circuit this year.

Her high point seems to be 2004 (ten years ago). She doesn't have much a profile. If I was to ask, 'What do you expect, knowing Hilary Swank will be in this movie?'. I don't think you'd get many reasonable answers.

I was surprised to learn she was a tv actress in the 90's. Maybe she should try her luck there again.

Winning an Oscar does not guarantee talent or success. While I do think Hilary is talented, I just think it's a mistake to make this assumption. You need not look further than the recent Oscar winners.

reply

Recent Oscar winners? Daniel Day-Lewis. Anne Hathaway. Matthew McConaughey. Jared Leto. Christian Bale. Jennifer Lawrence. Amy Adams. Lupita N'yongo. All incredibly talented.

You misuse the word “incredible.” It means “not credible.” It does not mean “amazing.”

I think obiwan can't hear you anymore

I'm not even sure if Oscars count....

honestly, does it matter to win Oscars when, say, your movies are big box office hits and you're earning a lot of money? It's all about the money, right? Maybe not.

Maybe it's somewhere in the middle.
