She never recovered after her breakdown over 15 years ago

Her popularity and music career took a massive hit that it never recovered from and she has been on decline ever since. She never managed to reach the longevity of Madonna.

reply

I'm not going to say that Madonna is the most talented singer out there, but unfortunately Britney doesn't have half the talent Madonna has, and without youth and sex appeal on her side, she doesn't have that much to offer anymore.

reply

She never did.

Just another boring young MKUltra biatch.

reply

True that.

She didnt write her songs. She didnt choreograph. She wasnt her herself. She was a gimmick from her management and string pullers.

reply

Madonna has been past her best by date for over 20 years, she is more like a case of herpes that just wont go away.

reply

Madonna's albums still sell in the millions and her tours still sell out. She is still incredibly popular/relevant. Britney on the other hand...

reply

And once in a while she actually shows up for the concert that the fans paid for... once in a while.

Frankly I wouldn't give a squirt of piss to see either one of them... but from a business standpoint, Britney has the better deal just show up to your own venue in Vegas to dance around and lipsync for half a million per show versus granny Madonna that will probably do half the shows Britney does in a year and will have the costs of the venues and everything else coming out of the gross.

reply

Dont think your up to date. Madonna sells out world wide and her tours go in the record highs and are actually impressive, with critical claim with Madonna holding her own in this massive creative tours with nonstop hits playing. I know many concerts of Britney that are cheap and are cancelled because they dont show up. When was the last time she had a No.1? Her tabloids sell more then her talentless songs. At least Madonna tries to take care of her children and someone elses too. The other is just a complete train wreck.

reply

To be fair, Madonna's last number one single on the US charts was Music in 2000. Britney has had 3 since then, the most recent in 2011.

At the end of the day these two women tongue kissed each other on stage, they clearly think there's room enough for each other so maybe it's not something we need to concern ourselves about terribly.

reply

Fair?
This is so misleading. I can crush those little numbers you just posted. Madonna actually makes her music, writes it, choreographs, directs her tours, makes her fashion... Britney is the Epitome of blonde Bimbo. Sure, they might get along and be friends not to confuse a moment for sharing. When it comes to megastar one is at the top of the mountain crushing the other.

reply

It's not misleading, they are the facts and nothing you said crushed them, with all due respect.

I will remind you it was you who asked "When was the last time she had a number 1?". I simply answered.

reply

I said I can not that I was going to give out the numbers now.

It’s misleading because when it comes to numbers even in that time from Madonna is better. Madonna has many no.2’s her albums sell a lot even if she doesnt make no.1 and that is strickly a US thing. Worldwide Madonna smashes her.

Yea, 2011. Almost a decade ago.

reply

Lmao you pathetic fangirl. Madonna is a disgusting looking mummified creature. She is completely irrelevant to anyone except pathetic little fangirls like you living in the 80's.

reply

Writing you own music doesn't mean you are the better artist, it only means you'll get more money when the songs get played or recorded. My only real question is if writing your own music and all that jazz equates to a more successful artist, then why has Elvis sold more albums than Madonna even though his career was only about half as long as Madonnas and he never wrote his own crap... Oh and his heyday was at a time when the population was almost half of what it is today? How is that possible that your do it all queen pales in comparison to a hillbilly that didn't write his only stuff? Can you explain?

reply

The problem is Britney gets A LOT of undeserved hate and critisism. Which led to her 2007 meltdown (shaving her head). She was a popular icon during the 90s and early 2000s. Especially for preteens at the time (like me).

I don't care what anyone says, she's awsome and her music (her old ones anyway) are great.

reply

I like her, life's too short to hate anyone you don't really know, I hope she finds happiness

reply

Well lets see, she spent most of her youth promoting music she didnt really write or had little input. Promoting innocence. She didnt really choreograph and didnt really create the image. She was an under performer but that’s alright cause her fans accepted her anyway. All she had to do was sit there and be pretty. But she had to get in the way of that. Her emotional issues threw all of that away. She had jt in her back packet but she had to sleep with junkies like emenem, fred durst, the whole rap gang and dumpster K-Fed. If that wasnt enough she had to indulge herself in heavy drugs not caring about her fans, children, and herself. Then the soap opera of on-off Britney came that never ended. Is she back? Oops she did it again. Being a great role model to her generation. When somebody has the world in their hand and they destroy it they deserve hate.

reply

The hair shaving wasn't a melt down it was a calculated act to eliminate the possibility of her hair being used to track the amount of drug usage she had been doing.

reply

Ah she’s done ok for herself, despite all the drama and craziness. I don’t think comparing her success to Madonna’s is entirely fair, pretty much every female pop singer will pale in comparison to Madonna’s achievements.

For what it’s worth I prefer Kylie Minogue over both of them. She has the long career, the multiple hit records and knack for reinvention; but what separates her is a genuine kind heart and warm spirit. She doesn’t do scandal, she turns up to her concerts on time and doesn’t trade on being a bitch. To me that’s far more admirable and entertaining than a cold, arch egomaniac or a tabloid baiting train wreck could ever be. Kylie is pure class and joy and that’s what I think the world could always use more of.

reply

Does it fucking matter??? Everyone who make it big in the entertainment business has their time in the sun and than it sinks. It would not have mattered if she has a breakdown or not. Some celebs have overcome bigger hits.
Singers and musicians have a short lifespan at the top due to most of their fans being if the current generation.

Not a big deal. She's happy and rich and still working so she's still successful and will die that way...

reply

She never managed to reach the longevity of Madonna.
well have you?
Has any music act?
Theres probly only the Rolling stones been around longer!

reply

You mean 13 years ago. And no, she didn't. People don't get better from bipolar disorder. And the medications can further impair someone cognitively.

I don't iike how her family and ''people'' try to control her though. She's mentally ill but she is not completely incompetent.

reply

No prove it

The biggest hits of Britney’s career happened after her breakdown and her recent album just went number 1 on iTunes in 2020....4 years after its original release and she just a had an unreleased track hit number 1

We’re talking about a pop star who’s debut album turned 21 this year and her debut single will be 22 years old this fall. So what longevity has Britney not achieved?

You may not like her but by the looks of it she’s only had one flop album out of 9 and had a successful sold out residency and 3 sold out tours since her breakdown.

Most pop stars wish they would’ve had the longevity you think Britney failed at obtaining. Where are her late 90s peers in regards to their music careers? When did Christina last have a hit? When Did Jessica Simpson?

Not everybody is Madonna. Not everybody is obsessed with being perfect. Madonna writes her music? Good for her, most of it is pretentious shit anyway. And Britney’s had writing credits on most of her albums starting with her third.

Britney could dance better than anyone back in the day. Sustaining multiple knee injuries can make anyone choose to play it safe. And yes, she should sing live - particularly her ballads. Her cover of ‘Something To Talk About’ and ‘You Oughta Know’ is proof she can sing and miles better than Madonna. Just because she doesn’t puke and shit post modern art doesn’t meant she’s not worthy of respect.

So, Seb, it’s been A MONTH and you’ve given us 1 post. Did Brit’s check bounce?
