She was so good as Seven of Nine.

Don't get me wrong she was gorgeous, no doubt, but I wish people had taken the time to recognize her for the great actress she was on Voyager. She was a nice addition to the cast and she managed to take what could have been a sterile character and breathed a lot of life into it. Whether it was the multiple personalities in "Infinite Regress", the paranoia in "The Voyager Conspiracy" or the chance of being a mother only to end in tragedy in "Drone", I think Jeri Ryan could not have pulled off that character better than anyone else. Like I said its a shame that people spent more time focusing on her as a sexy alien on a science fiction show than a real actress who really could act.

...but Voyager sucked anyway. A show that can master 7 seasons, doesn't suck.

STV was the best Star Trek series, besides STTNG, that also made "just" 7 seasons, so I do not agree with you, but everybody to their own.

I never heard of her when she first joined Star Trek Voyager. By the end of the series I thought she was a good addition.

DS9 > TNG > Voyager - IMHO

Excellent post. Jeri Ryan added so much to Voyager. The dhow was always underrated but good. I was disappointed cwhen the show low Kes but the additionni ofseven more then compensated. I can understand the competition between a driven Kate Mildew and a naturally talented Jeri Ryan but "Seven of nine" added immeasaurabmmesaurabk y

Jeri added immeasurably to the depth of the show. Her work was terrific and bringing a Borg Drone into the human dimension was no small feat. If Mulgrew felt intimidated I'm not surprised. Ms. Ryan easily became the most commanding presence on Voyager competeting one on one with Kate Mulgrew. I think Ms.Ryan more than held her own. She beathed new life into a series.

I agree - Jeri Ryan/Seven of nine did the same for ST:V as Terry Farrell did for ST: Deep Space Nine - added some sex and some female beauty/charm, which both shows lacked.

- You can say they filled the same role as Counselor/Commander Deanna Troi/Marina Sirtis did on STTNG. Sex and Charm...

Agreed. Not only is she absolutely stunning, she's actually a good actress on the show. I can't comment too much on her other work as I haven't really seen her in anything else (aside from I think a couple of those Mortal Kombat shorts where she is underused as Sonya). But I enjoy every moment of Voyager where she's on screen and not just because of her looks. There is one particular episode where she has her body taken over by the Doctor, and the way she nails his mannerisms is impressive. She has an intensity about her that allows her to play a very serious character but there is an emotive quality that comes through at all the right moments. I'd say she's underrated.
