Should Have Been Cast in The Martian

Nothing against Damon. But, Rockwell could capture the humor of Watney better.

Completely agree even tough most people will probably say that your only saying this because he was in MOON.. But Matt Damon in his older age has started to overact and is just something not believable when you watch him.. I really think he just overacts certain emotions.. On the other hand Rockwell I cant recall one movie Iv seen him in where he doesn't get emotions/expressions right on point.. You just watch his performance's and its always totally believable and just fun to watch..

There's just some actors that have that it factor with acting, its almost like you don't even realize there acting when your watching them, they have the emotions and how they deliver there lines so on point.. Two others that quickly come to mind are Daniel Day Lewis and Dicaprio.. Others might disagree but i never get that overacting vibe from them, always very very believable in all different kinds of roles.. I think Rockwell is on almost on par with them but he's just not as well known.. The good thing is Rockwell is becoming more and more well known so more people are seeing that he does deserve more lead roles..

Moon served as a great audition for The Martian. Both characters are very similar in that they are using humor as a defense mechanism to deal with the truly screwed up situation they are in. But, the reason it would still work is that not that much of the movie going population has seen Moon. The popularity of the book and a big name director will ensure a lot more people see The Martian.

I don't see it. While Rockwell does tend to steal the show from the other actors, I can't see him carrying a movie where he doesn't interact with others that much

He would have been good, but might get typecast as "guy alone on a planet/moon".
