Looking puffy

I like Norman Reedus so I'm not trying to insult him. I noticed, especially in the last year or so, that his face is looking really bloated & swollen. His eyes are so puffy that they are almost swelled shut into a tight squint.

Is he having a medical condition I'm not aware of? Maybe he's on Prednisone for a condition or, hopefully not, drinks heavily? It doesn't seem like simply weight gain or age.

He does smoke a good bit. Otherwise, it's partly due to rough shooting days on TWD.

Lol, I came here to check why he's so puffy, his eyes are nearly shut

He was seriously injured in a car accident in Germany several years ago. He was thrown from the car and his face was covered in glass and scraped up pretty badly. He has said he woke up in the street with a woman picking glass out of his eye. He has a titanium eye socket and they had to put pins in his nose. He thought he would never be able to act again. The eye that was affected seems to appear less puffy due to the surgery. I've also heard that he has pretty severe allergies that affect his eyes and they film in Georgia in the summer.

AprilValen, you said it! Norman actually got ejected through the windshield, which takes a lot of force. His injuries were life threatening and the surgery was not simple. Some lasting after effects are of course expected. I myself had a similar accident that left me with a skull fracture and constant Migraines, which are relentless and cause nausea and vomiting. We are lucky Reedus is still with us, and some swelling in his eyes can be excused. Thanks for bringing everyone else up to speed!

I know he loves The Walking Dead, but add to that all the smoke from explosions when they film, etc and all the special effects, it's all tough to deal with. One day he may want to move on. He excerts himself physically, deals with the Migraines, which I know are unforgiving and the puffy and itchy eyes and has to constantly exert himself physically.

Thanks. Yes, he was lucky he survived and we are lucky to have him.

However, I don't think he has any plans to leave TWD, and would only not be on it if the writers decide something happens to Daryl. He will be filming his motorcycle show in the off season. I haven't seen a single interview that says he is ready to move on.

I'm glad to know you survived your accident too. A twenty year old friend of mine had an accident with an ATV that resulted in a head injury which causes her to have seizures.

I am sorry to hear about your friend and that she has seizures now. My Migraines are all I have to deal with and I too need sunglasses on bright days, but when they hit, they put me down and out of commission for several hours. Often I even have to go to the ER for a shot of Morphine. They are no fun.

As far as Daryl and TWD goes, rumors have spread far and wide that he is leaving the show and will be focusing on films. I hate to say it, but there is a scene when Negan is introduced in the last episode of this season and he kills someone with Lucille, his famous baseball bat, in the comics it's Glenn he kills, but talk on The Walking Dead boards and other sources including several UPROXX articles have said that Daryl will take Glenn's place with Lucille and will be killed off at the end of this season, episode 16. It is a very strong possibility. His story arch has come full circle and he's already been stripped of his crossbow. He has little left to do on the show and writers have even said that they have taken important lines away from Abraham, Sasha, Glenn and others to give them to Daryl and that must end.

Once Negan is introduced Rick will need to expand his group of trusted men and there is no room for it to be just Daryl. Just read some of the threads on The Walking Dead boards. But be careful that board is filled with trolls and very rude people!

I am also very sad to see him go, but the possibility is very high and he is on all the night time talk shows now as if he's getting ready for a good-bye tour. Another issue is that Negan has a crossbow man in his group, the one who stole Daryl's crossbow. There is only room for one, apparently. I hate it too and hope I'm wrong, so let's keep our fingers crossed that I am wrong, but if I'm not, let's remember that this was in part Norman's choice and he's given a great deal to this show already!
