Freddie's eye

I was watching him in Bones (Season 9, epi 16 if anyone is interested) and noticed a blood spot in his left eye. It looks like someone poked him with something sharp. Is that just an injury? If so, what happened does anyone know?

He recently explained this in a FB live video. He was jabbed in the eye by someone's toe during Tai Kwon Do when he was 10, haha.
