Most likely scheduling conflicts. When she started "Covert Affairs" she was just an actor and the first season was only 10 episodes, They increased the number of episodes, the series films in Canada and some other parts of the world, and she was a producer so she most likely now sits in on the production meetings. Actors don't have as much input as producers and executive producers they can make suggestions but it ultimately come down to what the producers want to do with a project.
