Definitely a WTF moment...

I came here partly because of a post I saw on Anjelah Johnson's message board after I watched her comedy special on Netflix a few weeks ago and partly because of the news announcement of Piper Perabo's engagement.

I find it strange and quite silly that there seems to be such a deep investment by many fans longing for the day when Piper Perabo would come out of the closet and proudly announce to the world that she is gay. It seems from reading this message board that 90% of her fans are lesbian women who were trying to live vicariously through Piper Perabo based on apparently false assumptions and speculation.

See, now i'm a guy who absolutely fell in love with Piper back in, of all
movies, ROCKY AND BULLWINKLE. I took my dad to see that one in the theatre
(He was a huge Rocky and Bullwinkle fan back in the day) and i came out
just absolutely star struck by Piper. Shortly there after i saw her in an
interview on CONAN where she referenced BEAST MASTER, and i was in love.

I paid to see COYOTE UGLY, i paid to see "LOST AN DELIRIOUS". I was a Piper
nut. Then i swear (SWEAR!) That there was a confirmed report that she
was gay, because i had just totally accepted the fact that this was
another Jodie Foster scenario where i had a huge crush on the actress
but she was gay. I know she was gay!

Now you're telling me i would've had a CHANCE? NOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I'm a gay Piper fan but I am not trying to live vicariously through her. That makes no sense. I admit to strongly thinking she was gay (I don't normally speculate on celebrities like this either). I honestly still wouldn't be shocked if she said she were bisexual just because of the way she has avoided questions in interviews. However, I am happy if she found someone and is getting married. I will admit there are some crazy lesbians out there who want random celebrities to be gay. However, in Piper's case at least there were reasons why fans would think that.

Well, everybody is bisexual to some extent. I consider myself straight, and yet I have days where I might experience three gay moments (encounter three men whom I consider biologically attractive).

But I have never had romantic feelings for another man, and have had strong romantic feelings/crushes for several girls/women. None of them reciprocated my feelings, which is why I'm still a virgin at 35 and have never kissed anyone.

No, not really...because many of those "reasons" were "reasons" why some people think I'm gay, lol! See my other post in this thread.

Just because you don't often spend time with the opposite gender doesn't mean you're gay. Could be, yes, but not necessarily.

lol that's the third hot woman that lesbians were saying was one of them and it turns out she likes men, lol. Alanis Morrisette, Sarah McLachlan, now Piper Perabo.

Many of the "reasons" people thought she was a lesbian are also reasons people sometimes think I am a gay man:

- HRC contributor/member
- Not often seen with the opposite sex
- Over 30 and not married (in my case, still a virgin and never kissed anyone)
