James Marsden's top 3 films

I watched Straw Dogs the other day mostly because I'm an Alexander Skarsgard fan but I was really blown away by James Marsden's performance (and lets be honest, his looks!)I was surprised when I found out it was the same guy who played Cyclops in the x men films, I'd also seen him in The Notebook which was a bit too cheesy for me and he wasn't in it much (I just remember a pair of amazing blue eyes haha)

I think it's fair to say he's way more talented than you can gather from his role in the x men films, although he does a great job in them. His filmography seems so diverse and I'm not sure what to watch next, so what would you say his top 3 films are? Either because of the plot or because of his performance in it?

I am a huge fan of James Marsden and I love how diverse he is! Have you ever heard him sing? Amazing voice, which he is very diverse in his music as well. Look up on youtube of James Marsden singing, he sings in Hairspray, Enchanted, an old tv series called Second Noah and the theme song called Glow from his movie Gossip.
My least favorite movie of his is Straw Dogs but he still did a superb job. I love him as Cyclops but just wished they made him more of a bad ass leader which he could easily pull off!
I loved him in 27 Dresses. I have enjoyed watching all his shows. I haven't seen Robot and Frank or Bachelorrete yet and surprisingly I did also enjoy Small Apartments, weird but deep movie.
I am really excited about his upcoming movies this year he actually seems to get more roles and bigger roles. My fingers are still crossed for his return of Days of Future Past but we will see.
I also like one of his earlier films Disturbing Behavior, he had a main lead and got the girl. I do have a hard time with Notebook and Enchanted because his role and character is so much better than the other main guys, my opinion. I also think he got more recognition and was more likeable than Superman than Superman, I totally agree.
Its hard to pick out just 3 they are all good! Plus he was hilarious in Death at a Funeral! He made the movie!
Hope all this helps. Overall hes great at everything. watch all his movies!

Oh my god I've been listening to clips of him singing for like an hour now, I had no idea he was so incredible! I think I've listened to him sing you were always on my mind from Ally McBeal about 50 times, and I just melt every single time, wow. I've told my boyfriend he needs to learn it so he can sing to me which he thought was really weird but what can you do?! Thank you so much for the suggestion, he should really record an album or something, he has such a lovely tone to his voice! I liked him before but now I think I'm a little bit in love haha

I've borrowed a copy of 27 dresses which I can't wait to watch and Gossip and Disturbing Behaviour sound like my kind of films so I'll definitely check them out. And I haven't seen that Superman film so I'll watch that too, although like you said I'll probably be cheering on James more than Superman! Thanks :)

My favorites, due to his performances:
The 24th Day
Heights (though his character is disturbing because he's hiding something and that bothers me - just the idea of it and his agony is hard for me to watch.)
Gossip
27 Dresses- He makes that film. Now when I watch it, I zip past the parts where Heigl isn't with him, because I know that movie so well. Her character in this is not to my liking - she acts similarly in Knocked up and the comedy with Gerard Butler - title escapes me at the moment. Something about "Bad News".
Enchanted - I think he's hilarious in this.
Death at a Funeral - He steals this film away from half a dozen so-called "comedians".
Sex Drive - I didn't think I'd like this, but his parts are the best in it.
I almost left out Straw Dogs and didn't mean to. I think he's wonderful in it. Many people hate the film because it's the remake of a film "icon", and because it's set in the American South. But wherever it would be set, the people in that place would resent it. But the character arc in this film is amazing.
Hop - he's charming in this, and even though it's supposed to be a children's movie, I think it can be enjoyed by adults, too.

I know that only 3 were asked for, but I thought I'd go further and give more suggestions.

About Sex Drive - there's a so-called "theatrical version" and an unrated version. His part in the unrated version is much funnier - particularly the garage door scene. You have to get past a lot of other stuff, though.

His singing voice: Try finding episodes of "2nd Noah" and "Ally McBeel" (season 5 of the latter, I think) - and hear/watch him sing.

Another addition: If you'd like to see his range in one package - access Seasons 6 and 7 of "30 Rock." He is very funny, quite romantic with Tina Fey's character, and he almost sings a couple of times, and he does some dramatic turns as well. I love his character in it.
