I saw that earlier today. So hopefully he gets good screen time in this one.

Yes! He gets next to nothing in the trailers I've seen. The promoters are promoting only W & W.

reply

One of the people who had seen an advance screening wrote in another thread that he has just a handful of scenes, just like I expected

reply

:-(

I hate that.

reply

I know the feeling... Anyway.. I have to say that I don't dig this movie based on what I've seen so far. I want THE LOFT and RED MACHINE now!

Yes, and Nailed.
But good news. This morning, James Marsden appeared on the Today Show. He was wearing a leather jacket, white shirt, tie not tied completely - they way guys wear them today.
He was charming. The hosts and he sat around a glass table. There was no going outside to see the people on the street. But I have the whole show recorded, and I'll look and make sure. They didn't close with "We'll be right back with more James Marsden!" No, unfortunately.
This guy had to fly all that distance for what? ten minutes?
But he did say he was at the premiere last night, so maybe that was in NYC, too.
They played a clip of his part; scenes I've never seen before.
I enjoyed the whole thing.

Mau,
I want to tell you about his appearance on the Today Show this a.m.
They first showed a clip that I had never seen before - of him and a bit of Wahlberg - their interaction and the tension between Quince and W's character (forget the name). Then they introduced the smiling "Little Gumdrop" (my reference to a 30 Rock piece).
They were all sitting around a glass-topped table - I think it was a high table. There were 3 Today people plus JM.
They discussed the original plan for Quince, which evolved into a man Wahlberg's age (?he's actually 3-4 years younger, but whatever...). Now from the interview we have both seen of Jas, where he discusses the difference between Quince and W - Q being an Annapolis grad on the fast track (Annapolis is the U.S. Naval Academy, = to West Point for the Army). The graduates are lifetime officers, and their commission is approved by Congress. There's only 1 other place where graduates have that status - V.M.I.: Virginia Military Institute. My stepson's brother-in-law is a VMI graduate; he's one rank below Admiral if he isn't one already.
Okay. So, in this morning's clip, Quince is doing a set-down of the W character; the last instant of the shot is JM's blue eyes looking steely and cold. As the Today people commented, there was rage coming out of those eyes.
They discussed briefly his upcoming birthday: one of the Today hosts said he just passed that milestone, and they both discussed how a man sets himself/gets ready for the Big 4 0. They asked if his 3 kids would be seeing 2G, he said no; his 12-year-old isn't ready for that. He also said that his children are unimpressed with his career and his acting.
I believe that Jack will realize later more about his father than he does now - or perhaps express it verbally. It'll probably take Mary longer.
Okay. BTW, he said he tried to gain weight for his 2G role. Then they spoke a bit of JFK, and they asked about that. No losing weight, but putting something in his mouth to make his face wider. He then spoke of JFK's accent, saying again that he prepared by listening to Kennedy's speeches. They flashed a couple of stills of him playing Kennedy.
Obviously, this was all planned in advance, because all the clips and photos appeared on the screen the instant they discussed the various subjects.
Then, they asked him to read the lead-in to the next segment of the show - something about some chef or other.
And he flubbed a word! He stopped, exclaiming he didn't have time to read the copy, but they urged him to continue. So he did, and they segue'ed into a clip of some woman grilling something.
The end.
