Every character she plays feels eerily similar to the other and I have to wonder if it's because she's just playing herself: a really spooky, junked-up bitch. She gives me the creeps but I'm attracted like a moth to the flame, really.

shareAddendum. I've been binge-watching the crap out of OITNB this week, and I've really grown to love her.
I also read somewhere that Lyonne is actually drawing from real-life experiences in the slammer for her character. So, even if she is playing herself in a sense I really love watching her. I used to be so creeped out by her, but I feel completely the opposite now. I think Nichols is my favorite character on this show at the moment.
Look at her wikipedia page! She had open heart surgery for the same reason in real life as in OITNB! And shes battled drug addiction and been arrested many times....Also her life growing up in her real bio and character bio is very similar...shes playing her self basically! Its crazy! I really like her character but in real life she seams just as fun if not more fun! I'd kill to hang out with her in real life!
