What happened?

He was supposed to be the next big thing. He had some good roles and then things went south. I think he's decent enough. I really enjoyed him in Boogie Nights. So what went wrong??

reply

Not everyone can be Deniro. At least he's working steadily.

Was he is suppose to be the next big thing? I agree he is a good actor, but he is mostly been a character actor with a few lead roles here and there so IDK how he could have been the next big thing

Class is Pain 101. Your instructor is Casey Jones

Nobody is asking him to be a screen legend. It's easy to be snarky and a smart ass behind a computer screen isn't it?

He's currently on Syfy's tv series "The Expanse" and he's doing a great job as Det. Joe Miller. He's doing fantastic with the character and I love the show. Having read three of the books in the book series so far he'll be on this for a long while and season 2 should start filming soon. I know he had a TV show before this too so looks like he's finding a better fit in TV.

Being great in a SyFy series is an extremely low threshold to reach.

It is a sad fact that Jane's career crashed and burned. He will never again appear in a big movie. Big directors will never work with him again. His body of work will be forgotten.

Bit of a shame. Liked him in the Cameron Diaz flick. He gave good window dressing.

DUI arrest and gay hooker past contributed. The man is talented and with the right role could come back.

Shame hollywood is so youth orientated

This is what he said in a 2011 interview

''I’ve done my share of bad movies, but I’m done with that. I’m only going to do stuff that I personally really love and believe in. and whether it turns out great or not is not going to be my problem. I’m just going to be great in the show. I’m going to be great in the project. And I’m creating my own stuff. Directing, starring and directing, that’s my goal and my dream for the second half of my career. I’m going to produce, create my own stuff. I’m tired of other people *beep* up my movies.''

The last good movie he was in is I melt with you in 2011, he starded his share of bad movie after saying that.

This year's Standoff was surprisingly a pretty damn good flick with a solid performance by Jane. I'm a big fan of him as a actor (Love The Punisher, Deep Blue Sea, Thursday, The Mist, and Dreamcatcher) but not only does he have personal demons (self admittedly) but he's picked so many bad projects in recent years that a comeback would be quite hard. Dark Country, which he directed and starred in, was so unbelievably awful as well as that horrible film Vice. Into the Grizzly Maze was forgettable but got a decent amount of expose for an indie film. The Veil looked awful and Drive Hard from what I saw of it, was extremely disappointing.

As much as I like the guy, he seems always severely drunk in interviews, I have the DVDs for Give 'em Hell Malone and Vice and the interviews with him are gut bursting hilarious particularly the interview for Vice. Great actor but sadly poor choices and facts about his past may have severely hurt him but Standoff gave me hope.
