Could have / should have been a Bond

As I watched the pilot to "Awake" this morning, I was thinking... they TOTALLY missed the boat 10 years ago by not casting Jason Isaacs as Bond. I never thought of him as Bond until now. He would have made a perfect Bond!

Daniel Craig has one more movie after Skyfall... so we're not looking at a new Bond until probably 6 to 8 years from now. That would put Mr. Isaacs in his mid-50's. Unfortunately, there's zero chance that they would cast him.

So unfortunate... I think he could been an incredible Bond!

(I do have mixed emotions though... had they cast him, we would never have gotten Daniel Craig - which would have been extremely unfortunate)

yeah I agree, he would have been a great Bond, but I do like Daniel Craig as well so not too sad.
But it would have been nice to have them both if it was possible.

I was gunning for him as Bond, was so disappointed when they cast Craig. Actually Craig has turned out OK, really fits with the gutsy fight scenes, but.......JI would have been just as good, and crucially better looking.

Jason said in an interview that he would love to be a Bond Villain.

Against Craig-would be interesting. They played gay lovers in the London stage production of Angels in America long time ago.

Yes I was thinking that's the only way for him to be included now, still better than nothing. I think he could make a really cold sneering villain!

Is that why you guys are speaking of his possibilities as gone, in the past? Or does Daniel Craig have a multi-picture deal or something?

Yes, Daniel Craig has a multi-picture deal... he was contracted for 4 Bond films. He has stated from the beginning that he will do 4 and nothing could persuade him to do a 5th.

Responding to some of the other posters.... I had not thought of Jason as a possible villain.

That would be awesome! However, he has played some notable bad guys... I feel like it would be trite to cast him as a bad guy in a 007 film. Still.... I would be happy to see what they do with it!

Yeah, if Craig hadn't been cast, I think Isaccs would have been a pretty awesome Bond, he is a little old but he has aged damn well.

Ha! I came here to say the exact same thing. Couldn't believe it when I saw this post. Must be something to it...he would have been an excellent choice for a role like that!
