Not a good actress who'd be nobody without Tom Cruise

I saw one of her movies yesterday in which she plays a secret serial killer and her acting was atrocious.

What do others think?

Yeah, she stinks.

She was a successful TV actress before that marriage. I think she would have stayed one of those types, like Julianne Margulies or Shannen Dougherty, who'd pretty much always have some sort of job on television if she wanted one.

Acting wise she is probably B+ list-ish. It is hard though because she has A+ list name recognition which she wouldn't have if not for that marriage. Anyway, she is filming a new project and things are not going well with her acting. Scenes are being rewritten just to give her less time on screen. Katie Holmes (Untitled FBI/Fox Project)

She was a very successful actress before she met Tom Cruise. I think her career has taken a down turn since then. Probably with the help of his friends since she is considered an SP.

reply

SP?

reply

Suppressive Person - the term for a person who leaves Scientology.

reply

Wow, they really don't like you leaving do they!

reply

If the alternatives are leaving or being locked up in a trailer and tortured, I think you're better off leaving.

Anyway, I've always thought Katie Holmes was a better actor than Tom Cruise. Other than that smirk, what has he got? (Well, I take it back for Tropic Thunder, he was really good in that. But it was still the smirk that cemented that role.)

reply

I don't hate him as an actor, but the role which surprised me was Lestat in Interview with the Vampire. He was brilli in my opinion.

Katie's okay too, to be fair I think I've only seen her in Dawson's Creek though.

I am glad she got out of the Scientology thing for her sake.

reply

I might need to watch Interview again. I didn't appreciate it at the time for some reason, maybe I wasn't out of the coffin yet.

reply

I know. At least she got Suri out.
Tom/Scientology kept the two he adopted with Nicole Kidman and won't permit them to see her.

reply

What of Suri I wonder? Does she have any contact with her father. She's often photographed with her mum, although not as often as when she was very little, they often struck me as a lonely pair. I haven't seen any of her and Tom for years.

It's really sad for the children and for Nicole. I think she got quite a bit of shit thrown her way along the lines of her not wanting them and I'd bet that isn't true at all.

reply

Last I read, Tom hasn't seen her in quite a while but it appears he is trying to see her which is causing some complications for the cult. Apparently other members are asking why is he being allowed to see her when we can't see our families.

reply

So that's how it works? If your wife leaves and takes the child you have to sever contact with both?
Good grief, it's really wrong.

reply

Katie was declared a Suppressive Person because she left. That's why he can't see her.

reply

Sometimes you have to question the director's ability as well, not just how the actor comes across.
If a director has any clout, I'd think s/he'd fire any principal that isn't delivering the goods.
