Why didn't her career take off after Mulholland Dr.?

That movie brought Naomi Watts fame..and to a lesser extent Justin Theroux. Why not Laura? I thought she was very good in the role and thought more doors would have opened up for her after it.

^I think you're right. Laura was pushing forty when the movie came out- just too hold to break into Hollywood.

Well, I do know for a fact that after seeing Mulholland Drive, whoever casted her for Cathyrn in Willard casted her because he thought she was an amazing actres (which she is). Her career really should've taken flight after that though. She was amazing!

Maybe a little too old. Maybe not being a blonde hurt her. Who knows? She is sexy as hell. Give her the Uma Thurman dye job and have Hollywood look at her again.

Yeah, I agree with her being stuck as the "femme fatale" type. Look at Linda Fiorentino.

That didn't stop Boris Karloff, but then again, the times are different.

Mulholland Dr. didn't make too much money in the box office. If anything, David Lynch lost money after he made it since it only grossed about $7.2M (its budget was about $15M).

I also think Naomi's career really took off after The Ring.
