I think that has to do with two factors:
1.) She is a former drug-user, having had issues with it during the latter part of filming Sabrina. Former drug-users tend to look awful, even resembling 10 miles of bad road, despite starting out looking attractive.
2.) Relating to the above reason, she probably has not been taking care of herself, and people often age prematurely or look like crap when they don't do things like brush their teeth, take care of their skin, eat healthy, shower, brush their hair, etc. It's really sad too, she used to be so pretty and perky. Time has not been kind to her.
well makes sense, i've heard if you drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes you will look older than people who don't. so shocking, i didn't know she was a drug user. gosh, she always seemed so innocent like peaches and cream on sabrina, the teenage witch and clarissa explains it all. love how you said time has not been kind to her. so funny.
so did you notice what i noticed from that trailer of that lifetime movie? oh my gosh, i mean she actually looks older than markie post in this movie which is not right because markie is 20 years older than her. so markie looks 45 and melissa looks 50. it almost made me want to cry when i saw that one target commercial with her and joey lawrence a few years ago. you know the one i'm talking about? she looked so old in it that i was shocked. by the way joey sure looks young nowadays i saw him in a lifetime movie and he looked about 35 and this movie was made just a few years ago.
She experimented with drugs for a very short time, it's not as if she was a total crack-head or junkie for goodness sake.
If you want to hear about the year and a half she experimented, perhaps listen to what she has to say about it herself. She didn't enjoy it and cleaned up her act. I say good for her.
if it was just a year and a half then why would that make her look 8 years older than her age?
It wouldn't, and she doesn't. You're just taking AmeriGirl's suggestion as gospel. It's how dumb rumors start.
I haven't seen the movie you're talking about but I think the other thing is that the image the public has of Melissa is permanently frozen as Sabrina. People look at her and expect her to have that youthful glow and if they haven't seen her age in the years between Sabrina and now, the change is going to be more pronounced. Again though, I don't think she looks bad at all from the pictures and interviews I've seen. If you can find a picture where she looks anything other than a mid-40s woman, and her skin, teeth and hair look like a ravaged drug user (as was suggested), I might reconsider. Until then this all seems petty, nasty and extremely shallow.
