Her mother Maggie passed away on St. Patrick's Day at 99

Kathy Griffin's mother Maggie Griffin, who starred along side her on the Bravo show 'My Life on the D-List' from 2005-10, passed away yesterday at the age of 99. She had been living with dementia since 2017, and would've turned 100 in June.

“My Mom, the one and only Maggie Griffin, passed away today,” Kathy Griffin tweeted. “I am gutted. My best friend. I’m shaking. I won’t ever be prepared. I’m so grateful you guys got to be part of her life. You knew her. You loved her. She knew it. Oh, and OF COURSE she went on St Patrick’s Day.”

“She appreciated you guys so much,” Kathy Griffin wrote on Instagram, adding, “You loved her. I know it. She knew it.”

In early 2019, Griffin told fans her mother had been living with dementia, and receiving 24 hour care. She also said September, 2018 was the last time she actually had a “a proper/coherent conversation with her.”

Griffin's father John died in 2007, and her sister Joyce died from cancer in 2017. They each made appearances on Kathy Griffin's show.
