why has she not done too many action films recently

I ask the same question, but the answer is obvious. She's a mother of three now, and that requires a level of responsibility that she didn't have back when she was single.

An action film requires a lot of dedication, work, months of preparation/training, and risks. I don't think she has much freedom to do those things anymore, which is really unfortunate. But it's her life.

Why ask that here? The only person that can actually answer it is Ms Garner herself. Other than that, it's just guessing so what would be the point? 
