Great Guitarists

Man this dude could play the guitar.

I always thought of him as this 'aw shucks' middle-of-the-road country singer. I was shocked when I read his obits and saw some of the albums he played on, and the bands that he played with.

Yeah man!

I saw an Alice Cooper interview and Cooper said he lists Campbell as one of the top five of all time. I was floored so I revisited a bunch of Campbell's stuff.

Holy shit he really was incredible.

You are right that he was incredible! A really cool video to watch is from Fil (a professional musician and guitar player/teacher) from Wings of Pegasus. He gives an analysis of Glen playing Gentle On My Mind. It is so cool to see a young rocker appreciate Glen’s skill in such a genuine way.

"really deceptive solo"

Fil was spot on about that. That is the perfect way to describe Campbell's playing. He just works his playing into song.

Great video!

I was also like the poster with the "aw shucks" response to Glen Campbell. Finally I heard his name associated with The Wrecking Crew (very well-known LA studio musicians in the 60s) and I was stunned he was one of their ace guitarists. Completely reshaped my regard for Mr Campbell and I was surprised it had taken so long for me to learn of this.
And I also enjoy Fil's YouTube channel, and even without seeing this one yet, I know Fil will be smiling and nodding appreciatively at the mastery Glen exhibits.

From watching reruns of The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour, I am pretty sure that 'aw shucks' thing was a put on and he was a party animal. I've never actually gone as far as reading up on him, though; that was just the perception I got.
