This is a really hard one, actually...he has several roles I think are of near-equal calibre.

Obviously, The Pianist has to make the list. He caries the whole movie. I'm not knocking the film, but I'm just saying that is akin to Taxi Driver, where it's really, really focused on one person. That's Brody, and he NAILS every moment as Vladislav.

Midnight in Paris, I also agree with. He's in one scene, but he's so frickin' funny here. He's the exact balance of kooky, crazy, and believable.

For my third, I'll go with The Darjeeling Limited. This is my favourite Wes Anderson movie. It's underrated. He's really terrific in it, as are the other leads, and I think he brings an understated sensitivity to his role here that isn't always this palpable in Anderson's stuff.

It was tough to leave off a couple others, though. "Honourable mentions" go to The Jacket, which isn't a brilliant movie, but has Brody deliver a better-than-the-material performance, and The Brothers Bloom, which I just squeaked out for Darjeeling. He has a similar touching performance blended with comedy here. But I think the material is just a little richer in Darjeeling Limited.
