considering he played Angel from 1997-2004 (8 years).

He will have played by (assuming S9 is the last) Booth from 2005-2014 (9years).

Who do viewes prefer him as?

Angel.
Funnier.
Also he had better characters to bounce off of.
Bones feels a bit flat to me.

I can't make a choice between those two. They are totally different. I do think that David portays both characters as well as anyone could. + He is totally HOT (this doesn't really contribute to my answer but I had to mention it).

Well after Buffy def Angel, As a guy when he was Buffy he was emasculated by Buffy (it was her show, Very understandable). but once David had his own show Angel he became awesome (I seriously hate vampires, so figure it out). He made it a show guys could go heck yeah he's bad ass. (along with Spike and crew). But with Bones same crap different actress. Just feels like buffy w/o the supernatural.
