The suckage of Hathaways Catwoman

ok so once upon a time michelle pfieffer created a perfect, deep, iconic portrayel of catwoman in the 90's that stuck to the roots of the character while going far more darker and deeper. the recent batman movie had hathaway in the role now. i was willing to give her a chance, even though she is an ugly duckling with very little sex appeal. however i was NOT prepared for the absolute catwoman suckage that came from her from this movie. pfieffer has nothing to worry about someone stealing her spot. hathaway looked utterly rediculous trying to be sassy but she came off as a total hussy b*tch girl who looked like a emo biker chick. she has not nearly the depth or tragic character that michelle put into the role. michelles was an artful tragic soulful catwoman who was opressed by the male elite and finally strikes back and was much more pschycotic and dangerous and actually wore a COWL to hide her face and had the famous iconic WHIP. hathaway had a GUN. lol. laaaaaaaaaaame. im very dissapointed in the new one, she was such a one note 2 dimensional character unlike michelle's brilliantly crazy sexy cool catwoman who knew how to keep batman at bay while tempting him and was a relatable and likeable character before and after she donned the costume. hathaway i just wanted to bitchslap multiple times especially when she was trying to act all serious with those assinine deadpan expressions tryin to be all "bad girl" but came off as an annoying little twat. when they locked her away i constantly wished they just threw away the key. just a totally unlikeable character. michelles still shines years later, hathaway is the weakest of all the catwomans.

also those who are going to scream "comics accuracy", please dont make me embarass you by marking off the WHOOOOLE list of liberties nolan took. catwoman hasnt looked like julie newmar in 45 years.

You're the one who brought up comic accuracy by saying the root of the character. Returns' Catwoman had nothing resembling the root of the character.

I THINK NOLAN DID AN GREAT JOB CREATING A REAL CHARACTER INSTEAD OF A COMIC BOOK CATWOMAN THAT LICS HER HANDS

Respectfully disagreed. I think AH was amazing as catwoman/Selina Kyle. She managed to give depth to her character and was subtle in her portrayal. She also had great screen presence IMO.

By the way, one can be appreciative of MP's catwoman without completely tearing down Hathaway, since they had completely different approaches to the role.

I personally prefer Hathaway to Pfeiffer. Her catwoman felt more natural, more like a real person, who one could relate to, rather than an over-the-top comicbook character. I believe Hathaway has also mentioned in her interviews that her 'catwoman' wasn't very 'catlike'. The emphasis was on Selina Kyle instead of on her alter ego. The same can be said of Bruce Wayne/Batman (i.e. more focus was placed on how Bruce's parents' deaths shaped his identity and how he finally manages to move past that in TDKR).

Hi, I couldn't finish your post because it was really terrible. I stopped after you called Michelle's Catwoman "deep." No. Michelle was great, she was crazy, sexy cool but that Catwoman would have stuck out like a sore thumb in Nolans world. Anne showed layers, created a human being as opposed to a cartoon character that would have no use in this series. If you have complaints about her costume, her dialogue, her gun usage, complain on Nolans page. Anne Hathaway is AN ACTRESS, not a Director, not a writer, an actress.
