I read somewhere else that she's actually losing parts to younger up-and-coming actresses like Jennifer Lawrence. So, much so, that she's felt compelled to complain about Hollywood ageism. Her and Liv Tyler recently both complained about that.

I guess when she's on the receiving end it's all Kool and the Gang but when she's on the losing end it's a travesty.

So it's not surprising she'd go back to a sure thing, like a movie sequel where she used to be the star.

I think I agree with you !! I think she's in a procedure of reestablishing her career!! She's losing parts to younger actresses as she said and that's why she now buys rights for books to adapt them to the screen like the Ambassadors wife limited series and produces her own films like the lifeboat! She wants to be likable to more people people and that's why she's doing princess diaries ! The girls who loved her in the first movie are now grown up and young girls don't know her! And if she's in the photo the director posted she's gonna star in empress too which means that comix book fans will like her more! For me ,judging by her later projects she's a genius ! She managed to outgrow her haters !

Seems that everyone is losing parts to J-Law. 

Typical Hollywood. It can only handle one female star at a time. It's not J-Law's fault, but perhaps she should show some feminist solidarity with her fellow actresses and scale back her work a bit and give someone else a chance for once. She's a great actress but does this twenty-something really need the money? I know she might be afraid her window of opportunity is also limited, but Hollywood women need to work together to ensure that they all get long-lasting enduring careers, and that they aren't subject to the 'flavour of the month'/'It Girl' syndrome.

Princess Diaries 3? WTF? It's too early for April Fools.

Why would Hathaway go back to making that trashy franchise with hack filmmaker Garry Marshall? Does he have something on this Oscar-winning, increasingly respected and serious actress? What could she possibly gain from returning to such films?

To be fair, she has done a really great job of breaking away from the series and being taken seriously as an adult actress, so returning to the franchise isn't a bad idea. It will have a nostalgia effect. It would be considered a much worse decision if her grown up career was a bomb and she was returning to the series as a a career lifeline.

GoonGirl for Hire

Well apart from THG and Xmen, JLaw can't really carry a film. Most of her other films have been flops. The bigger ones are only because of the fanbase already attached to it.
