Emmy Rossum targeted by anti-Semitic Trump supporters

As protests continue against President-elect Donald Trump, actress Emmy Rossum says she’s been the target of anti-Semitic threats from some of his supporters.

The “Shameless” star, who is Jewish, shared vile comments from a user on social media that praise Hitler and reference the Holocaust. “Trump supporters are sending me messages threatening to send me & my ‘ilk’ to the gas chambers & writing hashtags like ‘#sieg hiel.’ NOT OK,” she tweeted in response.

Rossum, who supported Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton throughout the campaign, continued, “Telling anyone to ‘get ready for the trains’ in reference to WWII is disgusting & offensive. Reporting you to twitter is not enough. back off.”

After the Ku Klux Klan celebrated Trump’s victory, a Trump spokeswoman said, “Mr. Trump and his team continue to disavow these groups and individuals and strongly condemn their message of hate.”

Following Tuesday’s presidential election, Rossum aired her grievances about the results to her 601,000 followers.

“I am a woman. I am Jewish. I am marrying an Arab American. My sister in law is handicapped. I’m a victim of sexual violence. It’s personal,” she shared.

Rossum has been engaged to “Mr. Robot” creator Sam Esmail since August 2015.

Seconded on your BS. People don't seem to understand how hate crimes work. Hate crimes re motivated by anger and fear. Right now, a Trump supported is feeling neither of those. All of these Trump-inspired hate crimes are false-flags.

Not necessarily true. The urge to gloat is strong in many people & there were a very small minority of white supremacists who voted Republican.

Or they could just be everyday trolls.

I sincerely doubt these are actual Trump supporters. On the off chance any Trump supporters are making remarks like this to her or anyone else, regardless of the context, just don't. Not even "as a joke". There is nothing to be proud of in acting like an edgy ten year old.

Plus Trump has Jewish family and the Prime Minister of Israel refers to him as a friend and congratulated him on the election. It's pretty obvious Trump wouldn't want anyone making anti-Semitic remarks.

I think it is horrendous if Ms Rossum has been targeted by any group.

I am a Trump supporter. Over the moon that he won.

But I don't endorse anti-Semitism. Racism. Hate of anyone.
