Star Wars scores - your personal preference order

Here is mine. #1 is best. Keep in mind I am analyzing ONLY the soundtrack score, NOT the movies!

1- The Empire Strikes Back (Imperial March, enough said).
2- The Phantom Menace (Anakin's theme, Duel of the Fates - it is pure genius).
3- Star Wars (ANH) (I mean, come on).
4- Return of the Jedi.
5- Revenge of the Sith.
6- Attack of the Clones.
7- The Force Awakens (his weakest SW score, absolutely unmemorable).

1. Phantom Menace - I think the complete score, special edition is some of his best work. I agree, Duel of Fates is pure genius. But the rest of the score is just as good.
2. The Empire Strikes - I could flip flow on Phantom Menace and Empire Strikes. Both great scores.
3. The Force Awakens - I honestly think this is a pretty strong score from John. I think Rey's Theme adds great depth to the Star Wars Universe. And after hearing Giachinno's score, the music of Star Wars is looking grim after Williams retires. I feel like I am in the minority in really enjoying this score.
4. Attack of the Clones - Across the Stars is probably the most beautiful thing John has written for Star Wars.
5. A New Hope
6. Return of the Jedi
7. Revenge of the Sith

1. (Tie) ANH, ESB, ROTJ, TPM, TFA
2. ROTS
3. AOTC
Last place. Rogue One

Return of the Jedi
The Force Awakens
Attack of the Clones
Revenge of the Sith

John Williams did not score Rogue One.

It's still technically a Star Wars score though.

reply

1. The Empire Strikes Back
2. Star Wars
3. Attack of the Clones (just because of Across the Stars)
4. Return of the Jedi
5. The Phantom Menace
6. The Force Awakens
7. Revenge of the Sith

Bit different to my ranking of the movies

reply

1. The Empire Strikes Back.
2. Revenge of the Sith.
3. Return of the Jedi (if you forget the Ewoks part).
4. The Phantom Menace.

Appart from that I really like " The Jedi steps" in the Force Awakens.
