Alzheimer Disease - REALLY

I watched my grandmother die from it and felt for my father. It starts off very slow and simple. Try seeing a loved one every day slowly disappear every day and have it drag out for years. Try experiencing going to visit them and they don't know who you are. You visit them and the are out of time and place. They think is twenty years earlier, mistake you for someone else, get scared because they don't know where they are or who your are, can't perform simple tasks, etc....

I hope Will Ferrell educates himself about this disease.

Ferrell has several scripts he was considering - a comedy about the Lincoln assassination, a holocaust comedy, a slap stick about Pol Pot, a comedy about Lou Gehrig's disease, a madcap comedy about an ebola outbreak in an orphanage, a very funny script about babies with brain damage from the zika virus and riotously funny story about a man who runs a dog pound and puts down hundreds of puppies. Ferrell may hold off on the Alzheimer comedy until the script on multiple sclerosis comes in because Ferrell could really make that funny.

I just heard he dropped out of the Reagan movie and I'm so glad.
There isn't anything funny about Alzheimer's and anyone who's had to deal with an afflicted family member can attest to this.

I can attest. My father, a very intelligent man, was taken by this disease. There seems to be some back-pedaling as to just how far Ferrell was into this particular project before backing out. Maybe he thought about Karma in this instance.

I'm so sick of you politically correct Nazis. "Oh it's not funny because my grammy had it!"

Grow a pair and deal with it. News flash: there are are a lot of comedy movies (or at least there were comedy movies) that made light of serious subjects like war, disease, death etc. Unfortunately the PC crowd have taken over Hollywood and we're no longer allowed to make any jokes about anything they deem too sensitive because we don't want anyone's precious feelings to get hurt.

Imagine if we tried to make a movie like "Airplane!" today. People would be complaining about how it's insensitive because it makes light of airline disasters. "It's not funny because my uncle died in a plane crash!"

Ugh. Political correctness is destroying this country.

Thank you. I wish more people would lighten up. Why should comedians avoid touching upon subjects just because they've personally affected certain people's lives?

Everybody's been affected one way or another by horrible things. Alzheimer's, cancer, AIDS. domestic violence, rape, etc. etc. etc... doesn't mean these issues should be avoided in comedy or the entertainment industry. Laughter is the best medicine.

The funny thing is a lot of the people upset over this are the same people that usually bitch about PC. They only care because he was going to make fun of the Republican GodKing, Reagan.

I just know that I watched my dad slowly lose his memory, his self to Alzheimers. I am glad Will Farrell turned the role down. What my father went through is one of the most tragic experiences a family member can go through. My thoughts, feelings are totally NOT related to Reagan. I'm a Democrat.
