Giancarlo... Breaking Bad.... Wow!

I've never seen 'Breaking Bad' until a couple of weeks ago I rented the first season on DVD. I'm currently watching Season 3, had to pause it to come look this guy, 'Giancarlo Esposito' up.

I can't say I recognize him from anything else however... at least in 'Breaking Bad', this guy is 'Awesome'.
This character he's playing stands out such that I want to rent his work to see more of him. If he's done anything like he's done with this character in 'Breaking Bad', I'm on board.

I don't judge an actor by one role, that's moronic, in my opinion. Yet the masterful way he presents this character is a 'Total' stand out for me.

From a subservient, accommodating, even nerd-ish manager of a rinky dink fast food joint, to within a moment, transforming into an intellectual, scary bad ass that runs a chill up your spine, 'AND' with NO grand gesture, simply the slight facial transformation of attitude he delivered in that moment, and 'continues' to deliver what, by far, many actors could and never would be able to do.
Simply, 'he' is the one that has my attention and back pat in this series currently.

Again, I'm only basing on this current role, yet when done with Season Three, I'm defiantly finding other films of his to rent for comparison.

Either way, seeing what he's doing with this role, I give Giancarlo 'Big Props' for his subtle display of a 'real' actor serving the craft proud. What a stand out.

'Thanks' for the experience Giancarlo and look forward to taking in more of your work.

Check him out in Monkeybone.
I only say that because my daughter was watching him in that movie while I was watching BrBa.

Monkeybone! Liked that flick yet didn't realize Hypnos was him!

I found this 5min acting reel clip on various roles of Giancarlo.
Reminded me of some things I've seen and will revisit, and others I haven't that I will.

Thanks for the 'Monkeybone' suggestion, it's in my que.

ah.... good ol Netflix.

I just got Mr. Show with Odenkirk & David Cross.

Not what I thought it would be. Usually, I'd rather watch a story than sketch comedy.

reply

You nailed it, good ol Netflix, lol.

And yea, I prefer a story as well.

He's in the Usual Suspects, playing a supporting but very important role as an FBI agent.

Mini spoilers season 4

I'll try to say as little as possible...

When he says "....your infant daughter" it still haunts me to this day.

this ^^

That was a chilling delivery.

You mind if I have some of your tasty beverage to wash this down?

He's good. No question about it. But seriously: they didn't have any actual Spanish-speaking actors who would have been just as good? I'm thinking Javier Bardem, but there must be lots more. Gus is supposed to be a native Spanish speaker, but his Spanish accent is just a joke. And it's more of a joke in the many scenes in subtitled Spanish when he's talking with other cartel guys, because they're all played by real Spanish speakers and they sound right. I'm puro gabacho myself, but I speak enough Spanish to recognize a gringo accent when I hear one, and every time Gus speaks Spanish, that's what I hear.
