Always liked him as John Munch. It was only later that I found out the character wasn't that far removed from Belzer in real life! RIP

WHAT THE HOLY....?! I'm shocked! I was just talking about him the other day, because I was also thinking about Gilbert Gottfried, who he was friends with and had invited on his podcast a couple of times. Geeeeezzzz...So bizarre how so many of the biggest comics of the 70s and 80s, who were part of each other's inner circle, have been dying lately. What is going on? *cries*

Richard had a lot of lean years trying to break in to an upper-status of show biz. But he had many years to close it out with consistent success. Interesting he was living in France and apparently he wasn't as healthy as he always seem to look.
