He probably would be in the Expendables if it wasnt for Rocky Balboa

this has got to be it right? he wouldnt let his flashback be shown in the movie unless he had a role (which wouldnt make sense if he died over 20 years earlier unless he wanted a different part, Apollos twin brother?), Weathers seems exactly the type of guy they are casting in those movies, unfortunately may have shot himself in the foot by not playing ball.

According to Sly, Weathers wanted many thousands of dollars for a 'two second' use of his flashback image as Apollo Creed for Rocky Balboa (2006). Sly couldn't afford it, and so Weathers refused the use of his image.

I agree that Sly would most certainly have cast Weathers in the Expendables film series had it not been for this disagreement. Ultimately, it was Weathers' loss.

Stallone could have paid him out of his own pocket and wouldn't have even felt it. "Couldn't afford it," my ass.

That makes zero sense. Why on earth would he spend his own money?

Uh, because he's filthy rich, and can afford it? And if it was THAT important to him, he could have ponied up a few sheckles for a former co-star who isn't doing as well, financially.

Just goes to show how stingy rich people are.

With all due respect, I think you don't understand how the film industry works. That was a film produced and paid for by a major studio, so they're responsible for the money. It'd be like your boss telling you to pay a coworker out of your own salary, it just doesn't work that way.

If you're going to get mad at anyone get mad at them. Or get mad at Carl Weathers for thinking he was worth more than he was. But Stallone was hardly to blame for this.

Actually, I do know how the film industry works. And so does Carl Weathers. Stallone was the driving force behind Rocky Balboa. He took it to the studio and got it greenlit. He was the director with final cut.

When Carl Weathers was asking for money, he wasn't asking the studio, he was asking Stallone. He knew it was going to make a hefty payday and wanted a piece of the pie. Stallone claiming "he wanted many thousands of dollars, which we did not have" is a load of malarkey.

I also seem to remember reading that Stallone invested $100,000 of his own money to re-shoot a rabbit scene in Cliffhanger. Why couldn't he cut a check to an old friend and get them onboard?

Bottom line: if Stallone REALLY wanted Carl Weather in Rocky Balboa, he would have been.
