Another Oscar nom?

In her memoirs she stated that she was close to receive her first Oscar nomination in 1942 for "Ziegfeld Girl" as she said that the director Robert Z. Leonard felt she was very good but, anyway, it did not happen. Do you think she really had chance to receive the nom then?

Well................she was good, but that's typical of Lana's book. I love her, but she wasn't the brightest bulb in the chandelier! How did she know she was "close"? Did she see the tally of ballots? Was she one vote shy of getting nominated? My best friend (now deceased) was hysterical while reading the book; Lana could quote every Hollywood address at which she lived, and what the color scheme of the decor was at each address. My friend and I both bought the book at Brentano's on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, where Lana was appearing, signing the books.

"Don't worry. I'm not on the side of the saints yet."
