Terrific in Cass Timberlane
Saw this tonight for the first time in years. The movie is somewhat
ho-hum, but Turner and Spencer Tracy more than compensate for the slow,
soapy spots. Turner was always so good when given decent material.

shareLana was superb in this MGM film with the great Spencer Tracy. There is a reference in "Showman" the story of David Selznick that Jennifer Jones coveted that role and was very angry at David for not getting her that part. Lana Turner however was at the time Queen of the MGM Lot and it stands to reason Lana not Jennifer Jones would have been first considered. MGM would have had to "borrow" Jennifer Jones from Selznick International and David Selznick always drove a tough bargain.
Lana Turner was a very good and sometimes superb screen actress. However the press devoted far too much time to Lana's many marriages and many many boyfriends rather than her fine acting
