Is the way she was discovered true?

I've heard conflicting reports. Some say it's just a myth. Anyone know for sure?

Of all of the stories I have read, the one that is probably closest to true is that she cut school to get a soda at a fountain near Hollywood High School - the Top Hat, not Schwab's - and there met Billy Wilkerson, publisher of The Hollywood Reporter (as well as a few other things) and consummate Hollywood insider; he introduced her to friends and a career was started.

Everything except a detail on the ritual sacrifice is true. It was actually an anonymous, high-ranking Cernavodăn nun who delivered the janazah, not Ethel Barrymore. But yeah, the rest is true. Ms Turner got her fame and fortune, a unique subspecies of loris was made extinct and Goebbels went on to become head of propaganda under the Third Reich. There is no justice in the world.
